New study shows speaking in Boston accent drastically lowers IQ

A new study from the Institute of Language Development shows that speaking in a variety of accents, most notably a Boston accent, immediately lowers your intellectual quotient (IQ) by approximately 23 points. Researchers stated that when participants took on a Boston accent, their ability to do or say anything intelligent decreased significantly and completely reversed when they ceased speaking with the accent. The researchers concluded that, if possible, do not be from Boston.

  1. You may as well group the whole Eastern seaboard together – let’s face it a Brooklyn and Philly accent doesn’t sound “smaht” either.
